Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about booking on Area, paying for a job, staying safe and joining as a provider.
Using Area
Area is a home-services marketplace for Nigeria. Tell us what needs doing and we connect you with vetted local service providers for plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, AC repair and more.
Area is launching across Nigeria, starting with major cities including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin City and Enugu, and cities in Delta, Abia and Akwa Ibom states, with more to follow. Join the waitlist and we will let you know as soon as Area opens near you.
Providers set their own prices and every job is quoted before it starts. You see the full quote, with parts and labour listed separately, before you approve anything.
Yes. You can cancel free of charge until your provider is on the way. After that, the provider may charge a call-out fee, which is shown before you confirm the cancellation.
Payments and pricing
In naira, by card, bank transfer or USSD, all inside the app. You never need to carry cash for a job.
When you book, your payment is held securely by Area. It is only released to your provider after you confirm the job is done.
Tell us within 48 hours of the job being marked complete. We will ask the provider to come back and put it right, and if that does not solve it, our support team steps in.
Trust and safety
Every provider verifies their identity with a government ID and their NIN, passes a practical skills assessment, and gives references that we contact. Providers who fall below our rating standards are removed.
Only clients who booked and paid for a job through Area can review that job, so every rating comes from real work.
Contact our support team straight away from the app. In an emergency, always call 112 first.
For service providers
Skilled tradespeople and cleaners aged 18 or over with a valid ID, proof of their experience and a smartphone. Independent providers and small teams are both welcome.
